Does More Money Solve Your Problems or Create More Stress?

What if you got £10,000 today?

This week, I had a conversation with a client about the weight of responsibility that often comes with having more money. Whether it’s a pay rise, a bonus, an inheritance, or—let’s dream—winning the lottery, having extra cash can bring a lot of stress. The pressure of making the “right” choices can be overwhelming, and the fear of making the wrong ones can paralyse us.

In fact, I often find that the fear of doing something wrong with that extra cash becomes the main driver behind financial decisions. It’s a natural response, but it’s not necessarily helpful.

Instead, I encourage you to take a step back and focus on the bigger picture. What matters most to you? What are your long-term goals and dreams? When you shift your focus from the immediate cash to your life goals, you’re more likely to use money as a tool—rather than letting it control you.

I know it’s easier said than done, especially when it’s your own money. That’s why talking with a financial coach or advisor can help you see the bigger picture and make clearer, more confident decisions.

❓️ Now, let me ask you: if you received an extra £10,000 right now, how would you feel? What would your first move be? And how much work could you get that money to do for you?
