Get Ahead Of The End

Anyone who has worked with me will know that one of the first questions I will ask is if you have a Will. It’s not the cheeriest opener, I admit, but a solid foundation for your financial and life planning needs to be built on a plan for the worst-case scenario. And, as we all know, the only certain things in life are death and taxes 💀 

For a lot of people, the answer to my question is ‘no’. Often said quite sheepishly as most adults know they ‘should’ have one in place.

One major thing that a Will can provide is the avoidance of family disputes after you are gone. Death and money often do not bring the best out in families, but leaving clear instructions can help avoid this.

🗝️ It’s also key to communicate with family about your wishes. Recent research by Canada Life found that a fifth of UK adults have been involved in a dispute over inheritance. Often, these disputes arise from a lack of communication within the family. 41% of UK adults believe that more transparency would minimise legal complications in the future.

📢 So, here’s my call to action…… if you have not written a Will, do it! (feel free to contact me for some good people I know who can help you). If you have, talk to your family about it. By opening a discussion around this, you may allow other, possibly older members of the family, to open up and share. How else will you know that Grandma Sue wants to go out to the sounds of “Another One Bites The Dust” ⚰️
